The Fifties look

It all started with watching Funny Face, the movie starring Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire. Then it lead me to watch Singing in the Rain, Daddy Long Legs and An American in Paris and many, many other movies of the 50s. I just love the dancing and how the dresses moved elegantly with the rhythm of the music.
Costume history has always been my favourite subject in school. I've got stacks of costume history books which I treasured very much. I guess doll making gives me a chance to recreate the styles of the past.
I think the fashion of the late 40s and 50s are really about elegance and glamour. And these movies really showed them all. I'm inspired to make a series of dolls in 50s costumes. I've already have names for them! Stay tune.....;-)

The doll's eyes and lips are heavily lined like in the picture

This is an illustration of the dress I plan to make. It's inspired by the Christian
Dior dress in the picture
